The region has an industrial profile
Large hydrocarbon reserves are the key factor determining the long-term economic specialty of West Kazakhstan region. The region specializes in mining. Agriculture contributes a minor part to the GRP, but provides more than 20% of employment in the region. Economic concentration is located in the cities of Oral and Aksay, and Borili and Zelenov districts.
